Everyone deserves a little time off right? So we ( my boyfriend & I) started a new tradition.. each year we take a vacation to the farthest point East on Long Island, Montauk… ” The End” as its commonly known as. Each year we discover, in our opinion, the best of what the town has to offer aside from the miles of sandy beaches and sunrise/sunset skies. MTK (Montauk) is one of those towns that is flooded with Mom & Pop shops… like the good old days. It’s hard to come by a franchise in MTK and I’m pretty sure the visitors & locals like it that way… There is something about that old time nostalgia feel that Montauk offers, amongst everything else.
So being that I have quite a sweet tooth, when we arrived into town, the main strip, a rainbow of color caught my eye. After we got settled in our hotel room, we decided to go for a walk on the main strip like we do each and every year. Of course my intent was to end up at this little slice of heaven right here at my finger tips… So as late as it was, I think I recall it being after 10PM, we opened the doors to The Candied Anchor, Montauk’s newest sweet shop in town… As the doors opened I’m confident in my head I heard “Ahhhhhhhhhh” that quintessential sound that alarms you of something being amazing!
I was taken aback at all of the “goodies” as I like to call them that flooded the inside of this rather small corner store. Bursts of colors and smells of chocolatey goodness and sugary sweet treats were definitely fulfilling all of my senses. Immediately we turned into “kids in a candy shop”… Literally! So take a walk through our journey at the Candied Anchor and stop in for a quick bite to eat! From whirly pops, red licorice shoe string, vegan marshmallows, ice cream, old fashioned soda pop, quilts, and antique like kitchen timers, The Candied Anchor is definitely a place to visit while in Montauk. Stop on in and say hello to Jillian, the lovely owner of the Candied Anchor that we had the pleasure of meeting! Oh and one of my favorite things she has to offer… candy grams!
Happy End of the Summer… and until next year !
